Cookies
This website sets only the cookies needed for signing in, when you use sign-in, and one that remembers a choice you make on the home page, when you make it. It uses no analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and it embeds no third-party content such as videos, maps or social feeds. Because every cookie is either strictly necessary or set only at your request to remember your own choice, it doesn't show a cookie banner.
- pi.session_token: Keeps you signed in. Set only when you sign in. Lasts: 30 days, or until you sign out.
- pi.session_data: A short-lived, signed copy of your sign-in, so pages don't need to check the database every time. Lasts: 5 minutes.
- pi.state: Protects the Google sign-in step from being forged by another website. Lasts: 5 minutes, during sign-in.
- pi-path: Remembers whether you chose "I'm learning a stack" or "I'm already working" on the home page, so pages show your path first. Set only when you make that choice; choosing it again removes it. Lasts: 1 year, or until you clear the choice.
On the live site, their names start with __Secure-, which means browsers send them only over encrypted connections. None of them can be read by scripts on the page.
What your browser stores
Two small preferences are kept in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device and are not sent to us:
- pi-theme: whether you chose the light or dark theme.
- pi-voted: the free-session topics you voted for, so the site can show a tick beside them.
You can delete them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
Links to other sites
Google sign-in, the WhatsApp links, and the sources linked beside our industry figures and in our resources open other websites. Their own cookie and privacy policies apply there.
If this changes
If we ever add analytics or anything else that uses cookies, we will ask for your consent before it runs and update this page and our privacy notice.
